Day 214… It’s another big transport day with a long drive from Bangkok to Siem Reap (approx. 8-9 hours by private bus, including border crossing and lunch). And an exciting time was had by all on the drowsy bus… but at the border one of the gang had dual passports, and had the Thai entry stamp in the wrong one, confusing the guards. A Baht200 “fee” (read bribe) later and he’s thru. So lunch was amazing at a local food place in THE KINGDOM OF WONDER, CAMBODIA (quote-unquote… thats how they name thier country) before checking at last into our hotel then off for a Cambodian traditional culture show and feed. After a short 15 min group of tuk tuk rides later, we are back to get organised for a 4am start tomorrow. Bleah. The small but expanding town of Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor. It’s markets are a great place to shop or to try some cheap, delicious street food.
