Sorry… I think I’m stuck day 204 pics in another post… probably Day 203. However…

Day 204… Ok… big day time again peeps. Kyoto was once the imperial capital of Japan and as such, is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. With over 2,000 temples, shrines and gardens, Kyoto is a great place to get ‘lost’ in – so I get out, walk the streets and soak up the wonderful atmosphere here with Kiyomizu Temple, Sanjusangendo Temple, Sento Imperial Palace, Kyoto Tower and Fushimi Inari Shrine. We first go and visit the golden temple, which is stunning. May I also interject here that today with my seriously cool demon sunglasses i am getting bombarded by girls who want photos with me… I appear to be big in japan, legitimately! Anyway, after the gold temple its off to a zen garden where afterwards a ticket lady is wiling away the minutes with origami, she gifts one to me… a gorgeous intricate origami ball. Nice! Then its lunch at the kyoto university (cheap n tasty) before SIDE QUEST TIME! Our marvellous little japanese old lady guide helps half the group go back to the hotel and as she tells the driver where to stop, he just leaves with her on the bus and he rest of us stranded somewhere in Kyoto! So we wait and she does return at a trot, apologising profusely. Now.. back on track its time to checkout a marvellous old world market before exploding into a gorgeous giant red pagoda/temple ensemble! After this we are shouted a honey ice cream by our apologetic guide and a little more shopping before returning to the city. There I grab a tasty chocolate scone and ice chocolate frappuchino at Starbucks before organising our tickets on he bullet train back to Tokyo tomorrow. Finally its farewell dinner time at a random restaurant with nice food… mini side quest as I bag a japanese trading card of some sort on the way and drinks! We return to the hotel area where we find a TINY dingy pub which turns out has heaps of character and a piano playing barman who simply go us a few ragtime songs in japanese… he’s great! A quick beer after trying sake (awful) & I go to sleep for an early start, but an hour or 2 great evening chats with roomie Callum and other travel bud he stumbled into a relationship with Jen… great kids.
Day 205… Only a half day for me as I need to bullet train BACK to Tokyo to check into an airport hotel to fly out tomorrow morning. So first thing, I get up crazy early for the shrine NEXT DOOR to the hotel to collect my final shrine caligraphy, then take my bags to a locker in Kyoto station before bullet training out to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN! Love love LOVE theme parks! Wanted to do abandoned ed theme park Nara Dreamland but opted for working park as… its October 2015… Back to the Future month… AND THEY HAVE THE RIDE! BOOM! Would have liked a little more time, but apart from rides i had already done in Florida back in june, I only missed out on 1. But 1st off the rank is BTTF THE RIDE! And I’m a happy lad! Could be a bit longer, but still cool… ride the 8 seater delorean into the heady distant future of October 21st, 2015 (3 days ago) before chasing biff through time to prehistoric earth. Also as its all now in japanese i have no real idea whats going on… but hey, BTTF man! After that i wander about and marvel at the huge amount of people in costume since its HALLOWEEN season in japan… and that means a LOT OF costumes and much more crazy than normal. Then grab lunch at the Jaws ride (its a hot dog with a bone through it you eat without a bun in a heatproof jaws shark shaped glove… because Japan). Then i go on the old JAWS ride relocated to here and it’s a blast! Then I sneak into Harry Potter World to grab a Butterbeer and a wand, and it’s home time! Trains trains trains again as I go back to kyoto… then to tokyo… then to airport to bus transfer to my hotel for the eve… bringing me to the exact here and now. So… I will sign off on the Narito Airport Express (NEX) train and see u guys in Korea!
