Day 203… Back for more trains than a model railroad buff as we travel BACK to Ueno station, than BACK to Tokyo, then out FROM tokyo again to Kyoto by bullet train (approx. 3 hrs), followed by a local subway train from Kyoto to closer to our hotel, then we board a standard bus to get a little bit closer again, before walking a whole 5 minutes to check in. *PHEW!* After that herculean effort, in the evening, we head out to Gion, the famous Geisha district where we go to  observe the age-old tradition of immaculate geisha girls visiting members of the wealthy elite in small teahouses tucked away down tiny back streets in the Gion Corner cultural centre, we also get a taste of Japanese performing arts, from flower arranging to a demon dance, comedy to kinda creepy traditional puppet show. Sensational! Then its off to eat shabi-shabi at a restaurant. It is paper thin beef (and answers my query on what that would be like) fast broiled with veges, shrooms and special mustard sauces for a truly delicious japanese meal.
