Day 5, pt 1: After yesterdays 4am start (because the lake has no shade and geets insanely hot by 9.30am), todays 5am start was a refreshing change. A short 20 minute walk from the lodge is a clay lick. From a reed-blind about twenty meters from it I got to see dozens of colourful amazon parrots and parakeets descend on it to ingest the clay by a river bank for minerals & calcium. After lunch, folks left for a two hour hike to see the largest tree in the vicinity: a giant Ceiba tree. Me? I stayed behind & had an intense jungle massage of local leaves soaked in a medicinal liquid rubbed in with river stones. Beats the hike!
